Alongside our podcast and book, we offer a variety of training schemes on a range of skills which are essential to any freelancer, including starting out, CV creation, pitching, managing finances, and branding. We also offer sessions on breaking into lecturing, and creating your own podcast.
That’s all delivered via webinars, traditional training courses, and more bespoke packages – as well as 1-2-1 consultancy.
We have also partnered with journalism.co.uk to offer our four week online course on ‘How to be a successful freelance journalist’. Through a combination of online modules and feedback through our Slack channel, we will guide you through generating and developing story ideas, creating the perfect pitch for editors, as well as using a variety of tools to promote your own work, and understanding how to negotiate fair rates of pay.
The course is ideal for any new or existing freelancer, as it can be completed at your own pace alongside other commitments.
“After several months out of work due to maternity leave and furlough, this course helped to boost my confidence, sharpen my news sense and reignite my passion for journalism.I would highly recommend this course to anyone, whether starting out in journalism or an experienced staff writer looking for a change of direction.” Laura Cooke
